Bringing history to life, one story at a time...

The Wildies are a celebration of the brave and legendary women whose stories have been hidden in history. From building businesses to trekking through harsh elements, we showcase women who defied gender and societal expectations from the 1820s to 1920s. These trailblazers included famous leaders, infamous outlaws, and other adventurous rebels. Together, these women paved the way for future doctors, lawyers, politicians, writers, explorers, and more.

What We Do

History in Context

We respectfully acknowledge that we gather on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region, as well as Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. We also acknowledge the harm and injustices experienced by the Indigenous peoples of these regions as a result of colonialism.

As we share the famous, infamous, and hidden stories of women in history, we recognize that some of their views and actions were exclusionary or harmful when viewed in a modern context. While we celebrate their impact on advancing the society we live in today, we also approach their contributions with thoughtfulness and reflection. We believe that by acknowledging the problematic aspects of their legacies, we can learn from the past while doing better for the diverse generations of the future.
